Ohhhhhh my Godddddd, YES YES YES YES

I just completed it last week. IT'S GREAT! I love it. It's up there with Bioshock, Deus Ex and Fall Out as one of my favourite PC shooters.

The first game starts off a bit slow, I thought. Too much dialogue and it tries to immerse you into the story straight away. Gets more interesting soon enough though. I Tweeted about wanting to see Shephard and Kaidan getting it on ... video game fantasies much? Apparently there are romance options, but only between the characters of opposite sex.

I've ordered Mass Effect 2 and it should arrive through the post soon.

I've heard fans really didn't like the ending of Mass Effect 3 though.

Arousing? :P

I have to be honest, it was more the suggestion of something happening between them that appealed to me, rather than full-on kissy kissy time.

Although I have to say that point where they're in their undies and Kaidan pushes Shepard onto the bed....

Yeah. :P

I kinda regret playing with female Shepard now. Playing with male Shepard certainly looks... fun!

Anyone else here reckon that Steam is the biggest pile of bullshit alongside Rebecca Black?

Throw HMV in there too. Bought Total War: Shogun 2 for a snip (£7) using a gift card (since they had a Florence & The Machine t-shirt I ordered on hold for 4 months since it was out of stock). Received it today, brimming like a child on Christmas, punched the serial key into fucking steam and it's been used by someone else. Nowhere did it specify it was a second-hand game either, furious! Haha. Sent them an email anyway as I don't take pleasure out of giving an innocent guy or girl an earful over the phone (been in a job where it happened to me and it's not nice).

Bottom line is though, steam is terrible, it's stopping people from selling on games. When you buy a game from a store, you should be able to do what the hell you want with it! You've bought it, it's yours.

I used to hate Steam, but it isn't so bad any more. It's the lesser of several evils at least. EA released their online games network similar Steam a while ago called "Origin", and that's probably a lot worse... Also EA have had the DRM issues with some of their games where you could only install a game x number of times.

Steam isn't so bad in the sense you can just download a game if you buy it off Steam and you don't need to retain a DVD to play a game. It does some cheap deals on games around Christmas time too. I bought a tonne of cheap games last Christmas and I've only played a few of them, so I have a nice library of games I can just download any time I want if I'm feeling bored.

I did that for Mass Effect and that turned out to be a great game. I bought all the GTA games for about £6 or so too.

That is true, you can get some really good games cheap. But I've unfortunately never bargained from it. It's just a huge pain, because it's already been used by a steam account I can't keygen it either, so I have to send it back to HMV. Grr.

Done a bit of research and in this case, sometimes EA have given out a new serial code. Not sure about sega but will give it a try, just emailed them now and explained the situation.

Yup. Steam has let me down on numerous occasions so I'm not using it anymore. I had exactly the same problem like you Lance, but with another game (Portal if you've heard of it). I also had some other problems during downloading and installing. I might give it another try, but definitely not soon.

Off topic, yay for the Florence and the Machine t-shirt! I ordered one a few days ago too!

Finished Mass Effect today and it was amazing! I absolutely hated the decision I had to made on Virmire but I'll survive. I'm gonna start playing Mass Effect 2 tomorrow and I'm quite excited because I heard it's even better than the first part!

Woo! I started playing ME2 yesterday. It's a bit different so you have to give it some time so that you get used to the change in controls. Overall it's better though. No more having to chuck old weapons because you accumulate them in your limited inventory....

Mags - what did you think of Mass Effect 2?

I completed it today and I think it's generally pretty awesome. It's much better than ME1, and ME1 was brilliant.

I only have the final battle left and I'm done! :D I think I can say it's probably one of my favourite games I've ever played. ME1 was amazing but ME2 has something special. I'm really mega excited for ME3 now! I hope it's at least as good as ME2.

LMAO! I'm playing with a hot redhead female Shepard so that's OK I guess... :P

ME3 has been quite good so far. The only big minus is that I have to play multiplayer to raise readiness. :x And Thane and Mordin dying was heartbreaking, especially Thane.

Urgh, it's going to have to be Cortez that I romance now.

Yeah, it was sad when Thane and Mordin died. *Sniffle*

Is that how your raise readiness? Hmm. I'm about halfway through the game (I guess) - I've been playing for nearly 13 hours, and it took about 20-25 hours to complete each of the last two games.

Yep. If you leave it at 50% then your overall EMI will be 50% of the original EMI, so if you have nerves for multiplayer definitely play it.

Finished ME3 today. Everything was perfect until the last 20 minutes. What the actual fu*k!? If they don't release another DLC with a different and better ending I won't be pleased!

Ha, I finishd ME3 today too! Just now in fact!

It was amazing! Probably my favourite game ever! The ending was epic and touching!

EDIT: Just looked up the endings now (avoided them before because of spoilers, obviously), and I can see how it might be a bit frustrating. But I like the ending... sorta

I had 50% galactic readiness since I didn't play multiplayer but I still had around 3500 EMI which was enough for a ''good'' ending.

But so many things didn't make any sense! And I'm disappointed how it all got down to choosing between 3 options when BioWare promised us how there will be numerous different endings based on our decisions from ME, ME2 and ME3.

I still love ME3 and it's definitely one of the best games I've ever played but they could have made a lot better (and more logical) ending...

Here is what happened in my ending:

I chose synthesis. I just couldn't choose destroy since it would mean destroying The Geth and all other synthetics like EDI and control is what Illusive Man wanted so I wasn't too keen on that... In the end Shepard died (which I don't mind that much, I kinda even expected it), Citadel and Mass Relays were destroyed and Joker crashed on an unknown planet. What bugs me is, why did Joker leave me, how the hell Kaidan ended up on Normandy when he was with me a few minutes ago and how in the nine hells is everyone gonna get back to their systems now when Mass Relays are gone?!

ME3 Spoilers:

It turns out the three endings are pretty much the same. I've just watched all the endings on Youtube and there's only subtle, unimportant differences between the endings.

Did you get the part at the very end with the old man and the child on the planet, talking about "The Shepherd"? I did, and I thought it was touching, but the rest of the ending was a bit naff.

And yeah I agree, the part with Joker and the Normandy didn't make much sense. Suddenly crash landing on a planet with the Normandy and crew completely in tact? Yeah right.

I really liked the ending up until the cut scene after you make your choice. The stuff with the beam, all your armour burning off, getting aboard the Citadel, the confrontation with the Illusive Man and maybe even the bit with the child were good. If I'm gonna feel let down, it's because of the results of the choice you make with the Crucible.

Also, a bit off topic:

I didn't like Cortez. He was shit. His cut scene for romance was shit. Why wasn't Kaidan transferred from my ME1 to ME2? I saved him in ME1, I'm sure of it. I definitely would have killed Ashley Williams because she was an annoying twat. There was no option to import my character and storyline consequences when I started ME2 though, which was a bit annoying. I know there is the option but my saved character didn't come up as an option!

Still, the flirting with James was something else. Such a handsome face for a computer game character.
